Through the years we’ve become more conscious of our health. And we should be. It’s not just with what we put into our body that we should be concerned about though. We should also consider looking into the stuff that we put on our body. I, for one, have had my fair share of experiences with brands that didn’t take this into mind but as soon as I’ve made the switch to Clean Cosmetics, I never looked back. Why?
They’ve made all the difference. Not only do I look great but I feel great too! The benefits are too bountiful to ignore and knowing that I’m in safe hands makes me look forward to exploring the different types and brands of clean makeup without worry.
What is Clean Makeup?
If you haven’t come across this yet, clean make up refers to the beauty and skincare products that are free of synthetic and potentially harmful ingredients. While these mostly include sulfates, paraben, formaldehyde, phthalates, mineral oils and talc, a few other chemical enhancers are also removed or rather swapped out for more natural alternatives.
Generally speaking, clean makeup products are those that are labeled or associated with phrases like
- Cruelty free
- Organic
- Natural
- Vegan
- Nontoxic and
- Non GMO
From a glance, it might not seem like much but having harmful ingredients out of your makeup products can help protect and ensure the vitality, elasticity and overall health of your skin.
Reasons to go Clean
” If they are persistent enough, even tiny drops of water, over time, can change the rock forever.”
-Veronica Roth
No matter how small the percentage, over time the detrimental effects of potentially harmful substances will show. Thankfully we can do without all that.
Better yet, we can replace all those ingredients with safer, more nourishing and healthier ones with less or no drawbacks at all. This is what makes clean makeup so great. To be specific, here are the benefits of using them:
Safe for Most Skin Types
Unless, you have an allergy towards certain natural ingredients most if not all Clean Makeup products are safe to use. They’re so safe, plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skin care experts are not opposed to patients using them right after surgery. Of course, it is frowned upon and it would be best not to.
Widely Available and Even more Affordable than before
Despite the price, people are now looking towards leading healthier better quality lives. This is why most cosmetic brands have shifted from producing non-clean to clean beauty and skin care products.
In turn, the high demand for clean alternatives opened the way for numerous clean makeup options to be put on the market.
Though they may be pricier still, quality organic, natural and vegan products are now more affordable and widely available than before. In fact, you can find a ton of high-end makeup products not only in Sephora but at Target as well.
Benefits of Plants and other Natural Ingredients
Plants and other natural ingredients have always proved to be beneficial to our overall well-being. However, when consumed orally, only a portion of these beneficial nutrients go to our skin.
Many clean cosmetics make use of numerous combinations and ratios to make sure our skin not only gets these benefits directly but in the best way possible. In a way, you could say, clean makeup is good food for your skin.
No Endocrine Disruptors
These man-made chemicals which mimic, change, or thwart hormone production or the system carrying them, cause people to have unreasonable mood swings, hormone imbalances, fertility issues and even cancer.
Though non clean makeup may have low doses of these, it’s enough to do a lot of damage. Now imagine doing this to your body every time you put on non-clean makeup.
It’s good for the Environment
Producers of clean makeup not only care for you but for the environment too. Apart from using nutrient rich components that your body can benefit from they also look for ways to create products with the most bioavailable ingredients and biodegradable packaging possible.
The Drawbacks
Of course, nothing as good as this comes without a price. With the absence of synthetic ingredients, with clean makeup you get products with lesser color options and shorter shelf lives. But with that as a cost, you don’t have much to worry about.
